Cohoat and O’Neal Caddie Program
Since 2014, Cohoat and O’Neal has initiated a Caddie Program at both Prairie View Golf course and Wood Wind Golf Course, with a goal to create a pipeline of qualified candidates for the Evans Scholarship. Two members of the Cohoat and O’Neal Management Team are Evans Scholars Alumni and creating opportunities for deserving caddies in our community to attend college is a passion of ours. We helped establish the Indiana Caddie Academy in 2018 in conjunction with Marian University and a number of corporate sponsors.
A caddie is someone who assists golfers during their rounds. Their responsibilities include carrying the golfer’s bag, pacing yardages, replacing divots, raking bunkers and attending the flagstick. It’s a great summer job for young people. You spend the summer outdoors earning good money, and you get the opportunity to meet influential people and develop strong communication skills. You also can potentially qualify for The Evans Scholarship, which provides full housing and tuition scholarship to deserving caddies nationwide. This is renewable for up to four years. Selected applicants must have a strong caddie record, excellent grades, outstanding character and demonstrated financial need.
At Prairie View Golf Club and Wood Wind Golf Club we are doing our best to provide an opportunity for boys and girls to pursue their dream. For further information contact Jake at Prairie View Golf Club at 317.816.3100 and Elliot at Wood Wind Golf Club at 317.669.8550.
The golf shop pays the caddies $15-$21 every time they go out, and the suggested tip from the player is $20. You can also take a forecaddie out with your foursome for a minimum of $10 per player. We just need a few days in advance of your tee time to schedule caddies for your group.
Since the start of our program in 2014, Cohoat and O’Neal have had a number of caddies selected for the Evans Scholarship.
